Escuela del Mundo, A.C. is a parent-cooperative pre-school, kindergarten & elementary school dedicated to providing an educational alternative to the increasingly diverse community of children in and around San Pancho. A truly grassroots effort, Escuela del Mundo AC has grown thanks to donations of money, materials, manual labor, expertise and countless volunteer hours. We encourage you to join the circle of parents, friends, school staff and community members in making the school even better. Please consider contributing to Escuela del Mundo, A.C.!

Escuela del Mundo, A.C.,

receives no funding from the Mexican government or any other institution.

operates as a non-profit, civil association.

charges the lowest monthly tuition fee of any non-government-funded school in the area.

has evolved from a project involving 19 students (2006) into a SEP (Mexican Dept. of Education) certified education program with 52 students (Spring 2008).

currently provides scholarships for 10% of its students from local families.

provides a SEP-certified educational program for Kindergarten and Elementary students.

offers an interdisciplinary and Montessori-inspired learning approach.

Where your Money Goes
Monetary contributions are directed towards our most urgent priorities. Donors are encouraged to bookmark their donations for a particular fund or project. Currently, we are fund raising for the following funds:

Facilities Fund: A new classroom is a high priority for the 2008-09 school year in order to improve learning conditions and to meet SEP requirements. The space will provide adequate space for up to 20 elementary age students with materials and storage space as well as meet all safety regulations.

Scholarship Fund: Another top priority are increased scholarships for local children. In 2007, Escuela del Mundo, A.C. offered scholarships to 10% of its student population. Families receiving financial assistance are of Mexican origin, long-time residents of the community with proven economic need. Donations specific to the Scholarship Fund will help the school provide on-going assistance to selected families and increase the number of recipients each year.

What we've accomplished:

a new two-room school building was constructed in 2007
three new student bathrooms were completed in 2008
an open-air, multi-purpose space with a palapa roof was built in 2007 fulfilling SEP requirements
